Thanks to your last paragraph, I am now considering buying this book for mum or my sister - an act which of course has the benefit of being able to sneakily zip through it before the wrapping's put on.

Have you read Mansfield Park and Mummies? I've heard it's a better class of that particular brand of parody, but it's a bit dear for me to buy to test this, and the bookshops/library don't appear to be able to find a copy.

It's from a smaller publisher than the others, so less likely to make it into libraries, Aus bookshops etc. You can always look up the ISBN on the publisher's site to help a local bookseller find it.

I think that those brands are well and truly squeezed dry - at least that one is by a woman. Since someone pointed out the problematic nature of a whole bunch of modern male authors rewriting classic women's literature, I haven't been able to enjoy the idea of those books nearly so much.

As with many things, I suspect the titles/central concepts of those mashup books are in fact the pinnacle of the joke, and actually reading the book is too far. Instead, I recommend the Spike Milligan version of Wuthering Heights, which came out years and years ago and did exactly the same thing, but funnier...

Ooh note: all those above comments were about MP&M. You should totally buy Milk & Honey for your mum or sister.
