I had forgotten the baby kraken in the bucket....My cousins in Australia sent me the book one year for Christmas and I loved it! But being thousands of miles away I don't think I ever saw anything else by the author, at least not 20+ years ago.

Her books over the last 5 years have been extraordinary, well worth a look. Especially - A Song for Summer, I think? Gorgeous historical romance for teens.

STILL catching up.

I loved this book too, lost it, found a new copy identical, and just dragged it out - I am savouring it on a shelf, waiting for the right moment to start reading it with Inigo, who is gratifyigly becoming just the right age for sooo much cool stuff - I am starting to panic that there is so much cool stuff to read that we will miss the window and suddenly he will be ten. But he won't be missing this one!
