Thanks to Alisa, I am looooving Boxcutters, a weekly Australian podcast about TV. It is my new podcrush. I am particularly crushing on Nelly Thomas, but they’re all just plain adorable, smart and funny. They passed my own personal pop culture podcast test by recently discussing ( Read more... )

How could you say the Doctor's not broken? He's, like, the most broken character I know and he knows it. When Vincent asks Amy why she's so sad, we cut to the Doctor and we see guilt. He knows Amy's unrequited sadness is down to him.

Also, did you know that Emma Peel got her name from the term M Appeal, short for Man Appeal? They wanted a woman who would appeal to every man hence the name. And, it worked.

Ha, you're right about the Doctor. You really are.

I so have a (fictional) type.

Yes, I know the origin of Emma Peel's name - I still think the character has a lot to offer beyond that. And I have to say, they were much better at creating awesome sexual fantasy women in the 1960's - she's not just a shiny-haired glamazon in a catsuit - she has smarts! She reads!

He's broken now. He was less broken once upon a time, and Tansy loved him then too.

I don't really get TV time these days and so I figured I'd have nothing to contribute here. But...PATRICK JAYNE!

I only ever got to watch the first series of the Mentallist, but I figure when my daughter turns 15, we'll get the whole fifteen seasons out on *insert futuristic media here* and watch it non-stop for a week :D

The only other show I make time for is Desperate Housewives, because of Lynette. Tansy has Marge Simpson, I have Lynette. <3 <3 <3

I loved Lynette but faded out of SH after the first few seasons and never got back to it, so I don't think I could have included her. But she was totally the best thing about that show.

Boxcutters is fab. Danny introduced to me and as a result I found out that my old uni mate Josh kinal was a host.

For me, add Lucas North from Spooks. eee! look up Richard Armitage; then add 8 years in a Russian prison, and awesome spying skillz.

This is a marvellous list. I think if I made one I would have to exclude all Whedon characters up front, just to avoid a completely ridiculous parade of Jossfolk, but there would also be a few from this list. Lynda Day and the Doctor always, and Patsy might not make my list (although Saffy probably would), but I love her enough that just seeing her on my screen here made me beam.

Also, thank you for the podcast link! Made my afternoon more entertaining :)
