I remember helping with beginning readers in the classroom. The ones who read well all pronounced their "z" in the American way. Those who struggled, almost all pronounced it the Australian way. Not saying that Sesame Street is reponsible, but I've always thought it was an interesting observation.

Hahaha

I was so proud when Raeli was little that she used to say 'zed' and correct me when i got it wrong, but that was back when she wouldn't watch sesame street because she was afraid of the monsters. now it's 'zee' all the way.

Possibly she is still scared of Cookie Monster.

When you are still little, and there is even the remotest possibility that you may be mistaken for a cookie, that is a perfectly reasonable fear in my book!

It's right up there with not being in the bath tub when the plug is pulled, because that little hole could be bigger than we think it is...
