Wow, we're hair-sisters! I hadn't had my hair cut since I was eleven. It was long, down to the bum, always getting stuck in the zipper of my jeans. Then when I finished my PhD, I got it cut. (I was 31.) At the time, it seemed like a good thing to do to mark the threshold crossing. But unlike you, I had no guide to the domestic arts, and my experiences with haircuts have been pretty hit and miss. But I ramble.
It took me weeks to stop tossing my hair like a Texan cheerleader, and I never really got over the fact that when it gets cut short, it's still soft! And you know what? You may not even need to braid it at night anymore....
I'm completely flabbergasted that you hadn't been for fourteen years plus! Amazing. I go every six weeks! I love my hairdressers, though. Those lovely, gorgeous, attractive people at GLOW on Collins always make my hair pretty. :-) And wow, what a bargain price! I've heard that the uni cutters are good.
