Worse than Death

If we all take a moment to think about it, really think about, there are things in this life that we would find to be worse than death. Some people would rather die that become a paraplegic. Some people would rather die than suffer severe facial damage that would render then unrecognizable

See, these seem to be more "killing people" than "causing people to suffer for the rest of their lives" and I'm looking for some of the later.
