I'm very sorry to hear about Balrog. Even though he mostly seemed to hiss at me, perhaps associating me with the awful home intruders, he always seemed really happy hanging out with you and Rollick. You definitely gave him, Morg and Tip great lives.
Thank you. And I really wouldn't take it personally. It seems like the only people he really wanted to be with were either (a) allergic or (b) vouched for by a cat he already liked. Guess no wonder he hung out with me!
Glad to read the long happy story of a happy orange cat, even as I offer you every condolence on your loss. Man and cat is a strange bond like no other, and from what little Virgil has explained to me it sounds like Bal let you into his troop, which is all the honor one can really expect in life.
i'm so sorry. as you imply above, he was a little more friendly towards me sometimes because there was absolutely no danger that i would reciprocate. but he was a sweet-seeming presence and obviously well-loved.
I am sorry for your loss. In light of recent events in my own life, I've been struck by the strangeness of how it seems easier to make decisions motivated by quality-of-life for pets than for humans. It sounds as though you helped Balrog to go peacefully, and with dignity, which is I think the best we can hope for.

He seems to have enjoyed your company, and you seem to have provided a happy home for him. Can't really ask for more than that.
