Our news story has made quite the splash on facebook. Both of them.Mainly I have been trying to see humour in it, instead of the horribly, horribly depressing, cos let's face it, it's horribly, horribly depressing, and I really don't want to think about it. Yes, we are grateful for that. Though it always seems weird when people say that, cos it wasn't like we were running for our lives. We just walked out the front cos the dryer was billowing too much smoke.

So when the firemen started saying they were amazed we were alive we we like "but we just walked out"

That's fair enough. At least you noticed it, I know some people who wouldn't til it was almost too late.

Yeah, they dryer was making a horrible horrible noise (it was on fire, and still functioning) which is what alerted one roommate. The other was closest and smelt smoke. They both went to check and started yelling for me.

I could try some sort of poetic platitude...

I could try assuring you by telling you that everything you're feeling is perfectly human and perfectly natural...

Or I could try to play along with finding humour, and helping you return to 'normal' conversation topics, by inviting you into the house that love built...

OK, the upcoming anniversary came up in discussion with spaciireth (the fire was two days after her birthday). Can you please settle a bet for us:

If someone proposed that you acknowledge/celebrate the fire's anniversary would it be a) Tasteless, b) Painful, c) Therapeutic, d) An excuse for a party?

d) (with a hint of c)

I have been thinking about it for a while actually, and have been trying to come up with a name for such a party.

Phoenix party? Rising from the ashes and such.
