Hee Hee. It's one of the first movies we watch after Thanksgiving. I've still got my trusty, if not slightly worn out, VHS tape, because they cut the "When Love is Gone" number from all the DVD releases for some reason. :(
(doesn't hurt that Rizzo reminds me abit of the fourth Doctor, what with the scarf and jelly beans!)
Maybe that's why the Doctor loves the muppets so much, there's probably a story there that we haven't heard given we know he's a fan of Charles Dickens.
I think the one Holiday movie I absolutely hate is A Christmas Story. I don't find it funny at all. :/
Thank you! I thought I was the only one who absolutely cannot stand that movie. It irks me that they show a 24 hour marathon of A Christmas Story every Christmas Eve. Yuck!
I usually enjoy the more humorous/unconventional Christmas films; National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, Elf was cute, Bad Santa was pretty entertaining (albeit offensive, lol) Bridget Jones's Diary, The Holiday, Die Hard (What? It takes place during Christmas) and Blackadder's Christmas Carol is immensely entertaining, I think it might be my favorite version.
I've never been able to warm up to It's A Wonderful Life for some reason. I just can't get into it. : (
I got my mom The Holiday for Christmas this year. :)

I had the same problem for the longest time. As I got older, I realized how similiar George Bailey is to my dad, right down to the loss of hearing in the one ear. So now when I watch it, I can't help but think of my dad and how many lives he's touched. And then I get choked up. lol
Oh, I do love A Christmas Story, but only because of the father. Darren McGavin was perfectly cast and brilliantly funny in that role, IMO. I &hearts him.
Also I love Meet Me in St. Louis, Funny Farm, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. And The Family Stone is a movie I can't not watch every time it's on TV. For some reason I love Christmas movies about screwed up families that still love each other deeply.
I die laughing every time he's freaking out about the broken lamp and tells the wife, "Not a finger!" as he leaves the house to buy glue. And his fake swearing through the furnace vent gets me every time.
He's usually great in everything I've seen him in.
For whatever reason, I always forget about Meet Me in St. Louis. Which is slightly ridiculous since the standard "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" comes from that movie.
It also has a great Halloween sequence. I wonder when we Americans switched over from throwing flour in the face of strangers to begging them for candy? :p
If you ever get the chance, check them out! I've never seen the two you mentioned, BTW. xD I'm more into classics, but I'm always opened to anything Christmassy. :)

I'd have to agree with that, he was the only character I could stand in that movie. : )
