Good for you! :) Really glad work went well for you.
Couple of things about dancing: 1) It's not an instant thing. You don't suck, it's bloody difficult to get the hang of!! You will get better - I did! I am about as clumsy and unco-ordinated as they come but you saw what I was getting up to in Whitby! ;) (not that I'm sure that it was anything to be terribly proud of... ;) ) 2) Shimmying is really hard when you start. It has taken me years to get it sorted, and even now I'm not sure about it. If I think too much I lose it, and I always worry I'm doing it wrong! :) I am going to start practising in my bathroom (it's big and has a mirror I can see myself in) and try to get better. Cis keeps telling us (as my previous teacher did) that it will come one day, and you might not even realise it. Suddenly it will just click. Cis's came after a glass of wine - possibly the way to go! ;)
Good luck and I hope it goes well. I've just started back after way too long a break, so next time we meet we will have to compare notes! :)
It does start to feel much more natural once your muscles 'learn' stuff. And having jingly shinies also helps lots because it shows stuff is happening when you wouldn't be sure otherwise - I used to just try and make as much noise as possible and have lots of fun!
I don't know much (well, anything ...) about dancing but in general the key to mastering most physical activities is practise and repetition till it gets so ingrained you don't have to think about it any more.
It takes a hell of a lot of time and effort to make something look effortless.
