My marathon of reading the first six Harry Potter books continues. I finished Order of the Phoenix last night and read the first chapter of Half-Blood Prince this morning ( Read more... )

Harry dying is dumb. It just doesn't really make sense.

I think the prophecy has got to have some sort of twist to it.

I've read all the books, and seen all the movies.

Favorite book? dunno.

Ah, but what if Harry is a horcrux?

It's possible he could be, but I kinda doubt it.

As do I. Don't think Voldemort was in any state to make Harry into a Horcurx after his curse backfired.

1. Yes
2. Haven't seen OOTP yet, but I will
3. Prisoner of Azkaban, it's far and away the best one
4. Yes
5. I've read too many spoilers, which may or may not be true (but probably are), so I'll sit this one out!

Enjoy dressing up. I love the books, but I'm not that hard core.

I'm not either. I'm going to wear a beard and a shirt that says "STILL DEAD". I fail at cosplay.

1) No- but I may, my wife's encouraged it
2) Yes, all in the theater, then again on DVD
3) Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite film
4) No, she's content to wait apparently
5) No, it doesn't make sense from a franchise and marketing perspective, nor does it make any sense from a story and character perspective

I highly encourage it as well. I've enjoyed the movies - mostly starting at #3 - but I must say that in my humble opinion they do not hold the tiniest candle to the books. As movies go, they are pretty entertaining and tend to capture the spirit of the books, but they fall short of capturing the wonder and build up of excitement. Of course, having seen the movies, it's possible that you will find the books slow (since you know what's coming), but I'd still highly, HIGHLY recommend it.

Was it difficult reading POA first?

Not really. I have read book series out of order before (the Harper Hall comes to mind, and a couple of others). I think it was actually easier, since there were synopsis available for the first two.

Read all the books, and seen all the movies. So far my fav book is probably Half Blood Prince, just because so many things are coming together. Also, it's not as depressing as book five.

I've got the book coming from amazon on saturday, and I could see Harry dying, or at the least losing his Voldemort-equalizing abilities. Something's gonna happen to him that's bad in the end.

I agree. If he doesn't die, there will be major badness happening to him.
