Salamander robot swims and walks

A quick gander at any number of extracts and interviews with Ijspeert indicate that he's not at all trying to tout evolutionary process through robotic simulation of biological neurological systems.

He swings two ways: using biological systems that are useful for making robots more efficient and accurate, and also using the robots to understand biological systems.

The AP writer was sloppy about their angle.
