[31,000] Scientists sign petition denying man-made global warming
The academics, including 9,000 with PhDs, claim that greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane are actually beneficial for the environment. The petition was created in 1998 by an American physicist, the late Frederick Seitz, in response to the Kyoto Protocol a year earlier ( Read more... )

Whatever, man. I don't even care anymore. As far as I'm concerned, you pitiful earthicans can't bake, freeze, drown, starve, or blow yourselves up fast enough. I'm done with this rock.

There's really no reason for you to worry about Global Warming/Non-Global Warming here on Earth. You can always go back to Saturn and reclaim your throne.

Lucky bastard.

I was originally planning a full-scale invasion for sometime around next summer, but it seems kind of pointless now. You lot aren't even fit for the ice mines. Better to just let you do yourselves in, like we did with those idiotic Martians.

It's only a matter of time before we make this planet inhabitable for ourselves, either by "poisoning" the air and water, starting more unilateral wars, or allowing Paris Hilton to breed.

It's that last possibility that really makes me shudder.

Maybe it's like Hillary's state-counting. Only the ones that matter agree with the consensus. The dissenters must not be important.

I was thinking the same thing... 90%. of people on a climate change panel. that's pretty much arguing from authority. but then 9000 PhD's can't be wrong right? :P Arguing from majority is just as bad...
but at least it's a better picture from the professional realm regardless of association. And IMO that's sufficient evidence for me... *shrug*

Arguing from majority is just as bad.

It is? I think that arguing from majority -- when there is factual data that can be checked, verified, and re-verified -- is a pretty sound way of approaching things.

lol nice.

My nurse friend and I made up the following parody

It's like allergens in your Benadryl
It's the microbes that you just couldn't kill
It's an irritant in your inhaler until
When who would've thought - you're sneezing

Just a reminder that of the 33,000 signatories of this, only 9,000ish are actual Ph.D.s and of those, only a small fraction have degrees in Climatology or a closely related field ( ... )

I wondered about the qualifying credentials of the 27,000 non-PhD signatories. What kind of scientist doesn't have a PhD? I hadn't even gotten to the question of how many of the 9,000 PhDs were, say, political or computer scientists, rather than subject matter experts.

Yes, I wondered the same thing, but you can ask the same thing about the IPCC, and get similar results if I'm not very much mistaken.
