Heard of things like this lately. Apparently, it's more practical and affordable than initially thought. Personally, I favor more extensive deployment of solar panels and Stirling engines to soak up excess heat and sunlight, if necessary. Planting CO2-hungry trees couldn't hurt, either.
Yeah, I dunno, it just seems kinda irreversible. Maybe I'm just ignorant about the technology, but it seems like something that would not be easily undone.
Oh, it's not irreversible. In fact, it only lasts for a few years. Volcanoes do this sort of thing to us from time to time, as it is. Part of the reasoning for it is the observed reduced effect of global climate change in eastern North America, the result of sulfur emissions from factories and power plants in the midwest and east (prevailing winds carry the sulfurous air eastward, in general). With weather balloons or high powered artillery, we might be able to do that sort of thing on purpose. I wonder if individual nations will seize the initiative and try doing this sort of thing over their own territory.
