This test is entirely evil and designed solely to make people feel bad about themselves. Basically, it turns any non-shiney, perky, airbrushed (but not too shiney and perky, mind) behaviour into some terrible psychological pathology that must be 'cured'.
Needless to say it got me quite upset the last time I took it. Not as upset as the first time, but that appears to be pre-livejournal.
Disorder | Rating Although I do appear to be less potty than I was then: Paranoid: Low Schizoid: Low Schizotypal: Moderate Antisocial: Low Borderline: Moderate Histrionic: Low Narcissistic: Low Avoidant: High Dependent: Moderate Obsessive-Compulsive: Low
Which goes to show that it's entirely dependent on one's current situation and state of mind, and is not evidence of any long term disorder. I.e., all a load of steaming yarblokos. And for 'Avoidant', I'd say read 'A bit shy' ;)
That was my thing with it. Everything is exaggerated in each description, and looking at it, I got very high for borderline, while answering no to at least 3 questions! (I don't get angry, thats one of my problems :o) )
What was the question that made me laugh? Oh yes, "Do you find it hard to concentrate on one thing for a long time?". Right, like who doesn't? (not a word, tyrshundr) I'd be more worried if one could focus intensely on one thing for hours at a time, it probably means you've got Asperger's ;)
It is worryingly indicative of the modern tendancy to veiw any not-completely-average behaviour as an undesirably abnormality to be erased by stuffing you full of antidepressants or ritalin, though.
Its take my mum about 35 years to actually get some real help. The antidips have always lessened the problem, but never cured it. Now she is seeing a psychiatric nurse for counselling and they are starting to sort out some of the underlying problems. But 35 YEARS!!!
