I am now officially the soon-to-be Assistant Personnel and Training Manager of the shop! The delay in me being properly told this is apparently due to noone suitable being interviewed to replace me on checkouts (That also makes me feel good!!).However as the current APTM leaves at the beginning of August, and I need training, the matter is being ( Read more... )

It seems to be going that way... I'm hoping it will give me a chance to find out if I'm any good at it, as well as the bump for the CV. I'm not certain that I'll stay with the shop long term though, the money seem better on the outside.

An excellent move - even if it's only for a year or so, it takes the focus away from chemistry on the CV, and says "I can do whatever you want from me". Well worth it...

Does that mean you'll be hiring and firing? Pay rises and disciplining the reprobates? *G*

Interviews, disciplinaries, overseeing the payroll, the works. Although I think the doss does the official firing.

The bit I like is some of the salaries I've seen for other personnal jobs, and they don't seem to be asking for as much experience as some of the other jobs. As I sa, give it a while to see if it suits, then look for greener pastures, or even internal promotion like my soon-to-be predecessor.
