When it comes to things that don't really matter - Christmas gifts, costume ideas for dress-up parties, fics - I always find myself piling far too much onto my plate and being ludicrously over-ambitious. And then when it comes to the important things - university, job-hunting - I'm quite the opposite. Sad, really. I say this because I have six ( Read more... )

What an excellent title for a book, and the story sounds fascinating as well. Thank you!

agreeing with influira -- my favorite book is the history of love! i also read & loved "looking for alaska" by john green & "my name is memory" by anne brashares which is, admittedly, not the most challenging book to read (it's kind of simply written) BUT it's very visual & the plot & characters are EXTREMELY LIKABLE/ADDICTING. it's good if you're interested in something that's a little into the supernatural-y/fantasy realm but not so far into it that it's overwhelming/annoying. i also want to read never let me go, because i saw the movie & it made me interested!!! ALSO I'M STILL READING EMMA BY JANE AUSTEN. SO. :\

also, i know what you mean, i'm over-ambitious when it comes to unimportant things, but when it comes to schoolwork, god forbid i do more than the bare minimum!!

Ahh, thank you for the wonderful recs! I really want to read Never Let Me Go as well, though I haven't seen the film. I've just heard that it's really really good. :)
Is Emma good? I haven't read it or seen any TV/film adaptations.

Yes, sigh.

*big hugs* I know what it feels like to have too many things piled up on your plate, and I'm one of those people who completely fail at reasonable prioritising. I shall keep my fingers crossed for you. And give a cyber-glare to all those idiots who didn't call you back about that job. They really don't know what they're missing, those miserable sods.

The best book I've read this year? Good question! I don't really want to reply off the top of my head because my brain is like a sieve and I tend to forget important stuff and regret it afterwards, but I'll get back to you on that at the end of the year, when I post my list of books I've read this year and pick out my favourites. Rest assured there's more than a couple that I can recommend! :D

Me too! Today I wrote, read and went shopping before I ventured to continue applying for jobs. :|

I shall definitely keep an eye out for that book post of yours! C:

I know it's not of much use to you, but I really wish you good luck with the job and I am sure you will something fitting soon, because even from across the ocean you make the impression of being very hard-working and responsible and smart and committed and I would totally hire you and so should anybody else :)

Creativity and art do not need justification, and if it's something you enjoy doing, then it's important enough.

Concerning the books, I finally finished Dorian Gray and though it almost ruined me that night, I love-love-love it and I even bought a hard cover edition with extra annotations and commentaries. Also, I am at the end of "Le Petit Prince" and it is so very lovely and heart-breaking, I really recommend it to you, especially if you can read it in French ♥

Oh, no, it's a lot of use! Thank you so much. You're so lovely.

I've always wanted to read Dorian Gray, so I'll definitely go out and grab a copy. And I love Le Petit Prince! I wrote my French thesis on it in school. :)

Good luck finding a job.

Hmmm, I really liked Heart of Darkness.

I know a photo of Gerrard walking like this shirtless on th pitch, probably from this match, but I didn't know Xabi was walking there shirtless as well! You're icon wins so much there aren't even words. Must.Have.Bigger. Photo.

Thank you! ♥

I really liked Heart of Darkness too! One of those books that really stays with you.

I do love that photo, even if the match was one to forget. Here's the original for you. :)
