Thank you also for your compliments. As wonderful as it is to hear that you're liking the story, to know that you're enjoying the way I've executed it is possibly even better.
Aw, I wish Raúl would let his guard down, too. But while it'd probably be easier to write, I imagine it'd be difficult to read. Unrealistic in its idealism. Though I think I'm a little biased against idealism in football fic, which is probably not the way to go.
Thank you so much again. ♥ And I'm intrigued to hear what your theories are, if you're at all willing to share. ;)

I think Guti has become one of the most complex (and therefore humanized) characters here which has really surprised me from the first few encouters and delighted me over the course of the story. Raúl has been relatable to me more often than not throughout this story because we apparently have similar personality types... idk. Probably more because he (as the detective) is the audience proxy.
I really probably won't have a coherent comment for the last chapter. I couldn't imagine summing my thoughts without additional readings and/or longer posts than LJ allows so enjoy this while you can, haha! :)

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that. Really.

I'm so glad that this surprised you - especially the bits about Lionel and Thierry. When you're writing a mystery, there's really nothing you can hope for more than that. I don't think it's absurd that you still like Thierry after reading this. There's a difference between liking a person and liking a character, right? And I think that ~villains can be so much more complex, interesting and underhanded than the people we're supposed to like. And the good guys can be frightfully dull.
I'm also delighted that the Raúl-Guti interaction isn't letting you down. You're right, Raúl has no idea what he's feeling and what he should be feeling. That's why he latched onto this whole thing of going to Lionel's - it meant that he could go back to thinking instead of feeling. Hiding behind his job, in a way.
I really hope that you enjoy the last chapter when I post it. Thank you again for your comment. It means a lot.

It's really interesting, what you said about Thierry's confidence being somewhere along the lines of bravado and self-delusion. As I read this, I'm somewhat rethinking my opinion. The bravado/self-delusion thing, I still kind of think possible only because for all of Titi's hubris, he's bound to miss a step somewhere (probably when it comes to Rubén). And because the idea of Raúl's momentary clumsiness as a partial performance to bring down such a master is attractive. However, I say "somewhat" because Titi's too smart and too seasoned a puppet master to be predictable. The end result will probably be far more nuanced and complicated than I could ever anticipate, so I'm squirming in wait.
As for Canna, I won't say much, but do you remember when Iker said that he suspected he might have killed Beckham? OMG, YES! Canna's failed attempt to involve Iker in his coming-out scenario for the election. Hmm... Protection ( ... )

Uh-huh. Fabio hasn't come close to being scrutinised by Raúl and Guti yet; he's managed to evade them quite admirably, though he has all the motive in the world to have wanted Beckham dead. But I will confirm now that there are no more Thierry-Fabio surprises to come.
