Even the characters who didn't strike me as having that mysterious of a backstory (Hola, Guti!) have *something* going on or implied is going on. The plot moves ahead in unexpected ways (you MUST have to plan the entire thing out first, right?) and the dialogue is cracking. During the Iker and Fabio scene I think I was holding my breath because at "And I'm worried that you killed him," I may have gasped. :O
Fantastic, can't wait for next chapter! Nice Lost reference... I probably know some people that would have shot a man for that show's secrets too, lol.

Indeed I did; the whole fic has been mapped out for a long time now. I don't think it's possible to write a fic like this and post one chapter at a time without planning it all beforehand!

First, the Iker and Canna segment is masterful. I'm in awe. You set up the structure of the entire exchange with the first two sentences without lessening the impact of the exchange or the consistency of characterization. Prefacing each of Iker's responses to Canna with his actual thoughts is completely necessary because Iker would otherwise be too opaque. And because to be Iker in this story is to be inherently guarded, his thoughts both reveal and obscure, but Canna is too perceptive (perhaps too obsessively observant of Iker for all these years) not to sense what Iker is trying to spin. My heart hurts for Canna because of his doggedness and transparent want for Iker, and because even in a discussion about Canna's mayoral campaign (as well as their relationship), Becks is still the last word.
I cannot stress how much I love your Iker. How can I not when you write him like this?
Iker doesn't carry an air of ostentation. He strikes him as a man of classic but ( ... )

I'm so glad you liked the Iker-Fabio scene, because I agonised over it for ages. Your observations are so apt with regard to my decisions and how I tried to paint each character; it's so good to know that it came off. I'm especially grateful for what you said about it all coming down to David, and that you remembered how fascinated with him Iker was in the flashback. And you're totally on-point when it comes to Fernando and Sergio. How you could tell me that you always miss the point is beyond me. (Yes, that's me berating you.)
Oh, Fernando and Rubén are not roommates, no. The Fernando-Sergio-Rubén scene takes place at Sergio's.
Thank you again, you lovely, lovely person.

So..Fabio is a rebound? When did he become that? Surely not after David died coz David's just dead like..recently. Did Iker/Becks brake up? Why? And obviously David loved Iker to the end to give him all of the money. *sigh sadly*
Sergio/Fernando scene really gave some spice to this chapter a bit..and I loved it! ;p
Can't wait for the next part!
