I don't know if this is my favorite of the five or not -- but so far, I am tremendously impressed and moved. And I loved what we saw of the twins; IMHO, their escape is rightly going to be the stuff of Hogwarts legend. :)

Too bad about missing JKR!

I liked the book a lot. Luna Lovegood blew hippogiff droppings. I liked how the book feels more like comentary on the current political climate, especially here in the U.S. Of course, it'd be nice to have someone as stable as Voldemort in office *sigh*. Anyhow, my Remus was absolutely stunning, Harry is really growing up, Albus showed yet another powerful facet to his makeup, and Prof. McGonagall...well, in a word: WOW! She's always been one of my favorite characters, but she's now nearing goddess-hood. And Sirius...one of two things there: One is he's not dead as he was hit with a nonlethal spell and knowcked into the archway which is just some gateway somewhere, perhapse to another Department of Mysteries office somewhere and where he got himself caught. Or two, I'm in serious Sirius denial. Mad Eye and Tonks were both a lot of fun, and it'll be cool to see more of them. Ron struck me as a bit flat this time around, but much calmer and far less jealous over all (except over that letter to Krum!)as he's now a prefect and not ( ... )

Hon,

You're in Sirius denial. It sucks, but the only way he's coming back in the books is as some sort of spirit guide for Harry when he has to do the visit the underworld thing to defeat Voldie.

I realize that he's dead. He's not coming back in whatever form he possessed before this; as in, a human form. He may guide Harry, but I'm not sure how. It hurts. I feel completely miserable, as if I knew him myself. As if he was a real person. Alas, he is gone ( ... )

Hey. I was in a Sirius mood and I found your website through Google. From there I found your LJ. :)

I know what you mean about Sirius. As he is a fan of Harry's, I knew he was a possibility, but I believed him to be a remote one. I wasn't prepared for how terrible I felt when I read OOTP and found out it was Sirius who died. :(

It looks like we share many of the same thoughts on OOTP. For me, while I liked it, I think it was my least favorite HP book thus far, and not just because of Sirius. Part of what I think makes me feel that way is that there isn't a "mission" in it, at least not like in previous books... In PS/SS it was the hunt for the Stone. In COS it was to find out about the Chamber. In 3 we learn about Harry's father's friends, one of whom happens to be his Godfather. In GOF there is the Triwizard tournament and at the end, the rise of Voldemort. While it was interesting to learn about the Department of Mysteries, it just didn't seem to have the same... something like the others did.

Umbridge was truly terrible. ( ... )
