Reading not Writing 2009 #6

This is me just about up to date with these, and I'm not doing too badly overall.

51. Death of an Englishman by Magdalene Nabb. This is another contemporary crime novel set in Italy, this time in Florence, but I didn't like it nearly as much as I like the David Hewson ones I've mentioned before. This was almost a bit twee, and seemed very dated - ( Read more... )

Affinity ended up being my favourite Sarah Waters book so far, a good deal of that because of the inclinations that were never forced in your face. Plus, it's so wonderfully atmospheric :)

Rats, Affinity isn't available via my library, but I did request a Cleverly book (which is the first in the Raj series?) and the first mistress of death book.

Thanks for posting your reviews. You and corrigan1 have turned me onto things I'd never have read.

The Last Kahmiri Rose is the first Cleverly book - I read it earlier in the year and thought it was pretty good.
