Wow, just wow. This was a fantastic movie. It's a very dark fantasy, in Spanish with subtitles, that nevertheless had the audience in the cinema I was in, completely forget their popcorn and sit in absolute silence for the entire time the movie was on ( Read more... )

It's a great movie isn't it? My father helped to produce it so I got to see it early. Wow. I loved the fairy, how unsterotypical can you get?

It's absolutely superb. And it's such a shame it's only getting a limited distribution, compared to some of the crap that's out there now. The fairy was good, and so was the creature with its eyes in its palms.

Oh Gods yes... *shudders* kid's film my foot, that creature was really terrifying. And yes, instead of giving that film much wider ditribution they give us shite like 'Flushed Away', and 'Happy Feet' which might be about dangerously subversive atheist penguins, but come on. It's still recycled tack from hollywood.

Sounds like a great movie. It doesn't seem to be showing anywhere around here, but it's listed on Netflix (though the DVD isn't available yet).

Weird - according to Netflix, it will be enjoyed by "customers who enjoyed Hellboy and Blade 2".

The director of P's L is Guillermo Del Toro, who also directed Hellboy, so that may be where the recommendation comes from.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will keep an eye out for it out here, in case it sneaks in over the summer holidays. Though I doubt it will be found at the big mega-plexes.

YOu may find it's on one small screen at a megaplex - that's where I saw it here, and the cinema was packed.

Just looked it up - it's being released in Australia on 18 January, which is about right. We always seem to get things several weeks behind the UK / USA ... EXCEPT for the OotP movie, which is being released on the same day!! We may even get it slightly earlier, because of the time difference. They were going to delay it until September, but commercial sense prevailed, thank heavens.
