Caribou is hopping today. Not even an outlet left for my poor little computer... guess I'll have to charge it at work. It is hopping today, of course, because most of the neighborhood is without power. Including us. I wish I'd had a camera on my way home from work yesterday, just after the brief, violent storm came through... I stood in Pier 1

one of the neighbors - no clue which one - has parked a jeep right outside our house. this particular jeep has an alarm system that is wound up just a wee bit too tight, causing it to go off every time the metra goes by, every time a car goes down our street, and every time there is a large noise. and as there's hardly an hour where at least one of things things does not happen, we're treated to the sound of this stupid jeep's alarm system rather more frequently than is necessary. i do wonder whether its owner is deaf, or just too unaware to intuit that this arrangement is more likely to induce violence upon his vehicle than to protect it
