Poor Sam. I kind of hate that he had so many years of doubt as to whether Dean actually cared about him as much as he cared about Dean. It really messed with him in so many ways.

It's little scenes like this where you realise that their off-screen relationship means so much to their performance. I'm sure lots of these little gestures and expressions that happen between them are completely instinctive and natural.
