Yes. Sam losing Dean over and over again, then getting him back... knowing that he's going to lose him again. Poor, poor Sammy. :(

Poor Sammy, having to see Dean die so many times was horrible (I hated Gabriel for putting Sam through that), and knowing Dean's not got long left makes it even more devastating.

Yes, it was the most devastating thing. It's bad enough that Dean's year would be up soon, but for Sam to watch Dean die over and over again, was especially cruel. Gabriel's supposed "lesson" was pretty much an excuse for his bad behavior.
