So much love for the "milkshake date" scene!

When I made this edit, I thought it was interesting that Sam has a vanilla milkshake, which blends in (just like Sam will) while Castiel's is strawberry (which sticks out).

Interesting comparison. I would have never thought of that. But it does seem to fit Sam. He has always been one that is happy to let others take the limelight, meaning his brother. He seems happier being the background, just doing his work without being in the spotlight, which is why he and Dean work so well together. Sam is the Yin to Dean's Yang.

And Castiel will always stick out just based on who and what he is. Even if he tries to blend in, he will still stick out because of how he acts and reacts.

In this case, it's about Sam being human, which meant the mayor had power over him. If Dean had been there, it would've been the same result. Castiel sticks out, because he's an angel, so the mayor couldn't mind control him.

When Sam is in leader mode, then he stands out, otherwise he can be in the background, like you say.

Castiel stands out with his one liners and reactions.

I think there's still a part of Sam that wants to fit in, to be normal and average, but that will never be in the stars for him. I think maybe the mayor's mind-whammy worked on him so well because it let Sam express that. I hope that Sam remembers, maybe when he's feeling better, that he was accepted as the leader, looked up to as the Chief because he was born to be a leader, whether he thinks so or not. Oh yeah, I have thoughts, lol!

Also, they need to stop teasing me with the sastiel. ;D
