Yes. Soulless Sam didn't feel things in the usual way, but his desperation shows that something was going on inside him.

He wanted Dean to care about him the same way as he did for Sammy with a soul... that's a good point.

I'm always a bit torn with soulless!Sam, because while it was a fascinating way to explore his character, I missed our Sam, the real Sam.

I feel exactly the same way. They did some very interesting stuff with soulless Sam, but of course I missed the real Sam. And it hurt knowing that poor Sam was suffering in hell.

I love how he says 'keep a soul out, forever', he's so definite and I almost felt sorry for soulless Sam here! And it reminds me that Balthazar was killed off far too soon *sighs*

Yes, he's so definite about it, so determined to remain soulless. I feel sorry for him in a way,too. Oh yes, so sorry to see Balthazar killed off, he was a great character.

Soulless!Sam just wants Dean to love him like he loves souled (soulful? soulman?) Sam and he needs a chance to make that happen.

Yes, soulless!Sam wanted Dean to accept and love him, the way he did for Sammy with a soul. And he desperately wanted to survive.
