I'm so excited for you guys. I remember our total eclipse here in the UK in 1999. I was lucky enough to be able to travel down to Cornwall and see the totality. Unfortunately, the day turned out to be cloudy, so although we didn't get to see the disc of the sun being covered, I remember standing in a field watching the huge shadow rushing across the horizon towards us and engulfing us, and because we were in a very rural area, everything went silent - the birds stopped singing, and the cows in the field with us stopped moving around. For a couple of moments it was as black as night time. It was an otherworldly experience - I'm so glad you're getting to experience it!
What a wonderful experience for you, even though it was cloudy! Thanks for sharing all the details... it sounds quite magical! Here, the sun dimmed, but it didn't get fully dark. I saw some blackness in the sky above, even with the sun still shining. Things seemed sharper, especially shadows. The sun was a tiny sliver peeking out on the left side of the moon... so amazing!
Hee hee, yay for the gifs! I thought of this a few weeks ago, but of course I had to wait until today! Thanks... I got my eclipse glasses for free at the library, the weather was perfect... it all worked out great!
Yay for the gifs, lol! Night and day, hee! I'm glad you got to see it.... it did get dimmer here (not fully dark) but still awesome! Seeing a sliver of the sun was a thrilling experience!
