Wow. Gone are the days when Dean would roll his eyes and toss out some cocky insult when someone tried to offer him comfort. I don't know if that's a sign of how much he's grown, or how much he's been broken. Maybe both.
I think Jody is kind of amazing here. Ellen Harvelle, as much as I loved her, would have maybe offered Dean a stiff drink and a kind look, but deep down she knew she and Dean weren't that close. And Mary probably needs to earn that kind of intimacy with her sons now. Jody has just the right mix of "give him space, you're not his mama" and "give him the loving touches and reassurance he desperately needs," like she's known him all his life ... or like she's just made the most of the few years she has known him. She's nowhere near old enough to be their mother, but she's a damned good surrogate.

I loved this moment so much, in that simple gesture Jody gave Dean so much support, comfort and love. And Jensen is so good at making Dean look sad and vulnerable *sobs*

Jody knows how to balance things. Giving Dean the right amount of space, while giving him reassurances when he needs it.
