A 14-year-old boy I babysat in college tried valiantly to teach me to play chess, but I couldn't grasp it. He was good; used to beat his father who was a philosophy prof at my college. I wonder what that kid's IQ was/is and what he's doing now. Makes me think of Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) on Criminal Minds.

I LOVE Scrabble, crossword puzzles and any other kind of word games.

I'm glad that it's not just me who had a hard time learning to play chess. And you had someone who was very good at it trying to teach you. Wow, he even beat his dad at the game. Well, we can enjoy other games that suit us better. :)

I'm much better at word games than games that involve strategy. I guess it's just the way my mind works.

Same here. Word games appeal to me more than strategy games. Except I do like checkers, but it's an easy game to play.

Shiremom and I try to play Scrabble every Sunday. It's a nice tradition for us.

Chess is a weird one, I haven't played for a long time. My ex hubby taught me to play and once I got the hang of it used to beat him a lot, but where I haven't played for so long can't actually remember how to O.o strange huh!
