Yes, the differences that you mention, and also, Sam is walking away from the Impala in the first one (but he feels a tenderness towards the car) while he's relieved to have the Impala for support in the second one.

The car is home and part of the family for him.

He loves her just as much as Dean does but for very different reasons! Dean sees her as a badge of honour and pride, his papa handed him the keys and said don't mess her up, but handed him the keys all the same! Sam sees her as salvation and home, somewhere he's always safe or can find safe harbour with!
