Whoa, this is totally what Dean's state-of-mind must have been after Stull and during his time with Lisa.

A pound of pain for every happy breath

Such a beautiful description of the weight on Dean's heart. Sam's loss truly broke him. Perfection! I love the imagery of the "eternal chain," too. Great job! ♥

Yes, this doesn't get acknowledged very often... the direct connection between Sam's sacrifice, and Dean "living the dream".

Or that Sam finally gave Dean the 'apple pie' he craved but never got. I think the fact that the series continued beyond s5 distracted people from the final message Swan Song was supposed to have.

Yes, Sam did give Dean a chance to live a normal life. Though I think Dean knew that it wouldn't work out, because, as Dean said in 6.01 "You can't outrun your past".
