If you're seriously considering things other than law, then don't be a lawyer. I've only met two types of lawyers: those who love what they do to the point that they can't imagine doing anything else, and those who are miserable.
i'm basically viewing these other options as "backup plans"
the tech spec jobs are really still priority 1 - they're just really hard to get (if you want to pass in my resume to your IP group, just let me know ;-) )
The idea here being that I've basically always been in school, and some distance from academia would be nice. I have no problem with the idea of doing this for 2-3 years, making some money, then going full-time in law school.
we should def talk, though, if you can spare the time.
