Edward Gorey is probably my favourite cartoonist. His books have been collected together into three (maybe four by now) "Amphigoreys".
The LJ icon (an tattoo) were drawn by Nick Blinko, guitarist from Rudimentary Peni.

Ah yes, I remember.
Any particular Gorey books that'd go good on my coffee table? Right now the fare is limited to Hips.
