Caryn Knits!

So, I've gone and created a new blog. Over on Blogger, actually. I wanted to see what it was like, what the differences in setup and use were like, so I created a new place to talk about my knitting and (maybe) spinning, and other such creative pursuits. I won't stop talking about stuff like that here, but I didn't want to spam my whole friends ( Read more... )

Wha ... can't leave a comment without being a Blogger? That just silly! I've toyed with the idea of having a knit-specific journal as well, but the main reason I'd do so is to be able to show off WIPs and FOs, and that's not really possible until I get a digital camera (purchase in the works). So ... until I join you on the Blogside, I'll just admire your work from afar (afeed!).

I recently finished an Eris pullover for my Mom ... she liked receiving it as much as I liked making it (that is to say, a lot). It was probably the best crafted pattern -- no pun intended -- I've ever used. The only problem I found was that the rounded horizontal ribs on the cuffs and hem weren't as well-defined as I'd have liked, but it certainly wasn't a design flaw, and probably could have been fixed with some aggressive blocking.

That was silly of me. There's a setting to allow anyone to post, and I thought I had it set to do so. I just fixed it, so thanks for letting me know, and you can comment away over there, if you like. *g*

You've knit an Eris? How long did it take you? The fact that I have 5 things going at once probably means that mine will take a while, but that's where my energy is now, so it may not take too long. I'm all intensely focused on those cables right now...

The cabled collar was a heck of a lot of fun, I have to admit. I found that there were so many clever little surprises -- like a wee placet to secure the "v" in the v-neck -- that I hummed right along, wanting to see what was next. The only boring bit was the body of the sweater, which I knit in the round (and round and round and round). I started in mid-November with the intention of having it done by my Mom's birthday in early June (I have to build in a lot of stall (aka: finishing) time!). It was nearly done by Christmas. In fact, if I could have pushed Chrismas back another week, I'm sure I'd have been able to finish it as a gift.
