Akita name, step 2

Sep 01, 2010 19:58

I didn't drag this over to LJ before, but who knows, maybe I'll get something over here.  I've been trying to figure out a good fitting name for my Akita suit.  (If you haven't seen him, he is in the first, third, and fourth picures here).

So, big thanks to runswithpencils/starcharmer (xainy)  and winail  for the help with the kanji characters. kookyfox , thanks for not helping at all XD.

Is it pronounced "day" or "dye"? It seems like it could be a cute name, I just see pronunciation issues. :P

Thats... a really good question. Being from the midwest (Chicago in particular) I have tendancy to want to elongate the vowels. I am also usually wrong. Let me get back to you on that.

Having studied the Japanese language I can tell you that pronunciation would be "DYE".

I actually had a real Akita, one of the best dogs ever in my opinion. We considered many common Japanese names and went with Yohsi, a name as common in Japan as Joe is here in America.

About a year or so later Nintendo released a certain dinosaur of the same name :/
