Be Careful of Medicine You're Given...

I recently found a friend on Facebook I lost touch with about 9 years ago when I left St. Louis. His story is really sad:

5-1/2 years ago he had a severe reaction to an antibiotic he was put on called Cipro. He told me that this is what the reaction looks like:

God, that's scary! Is this a side effect that happens rarely or if you have an allergy or something?

It seems to be a big problem. I looked on several websites, and they all mention warnings about severe side effects, so I'm not sure how often they occur.

Wikipedia said: Some of the serious adverse effects which occur more commonly with fluoroquinolones than with other antibiotic drug classes include central nervous system (CNS) side effects and tendon toxicity.[62][63] Additional serious adverse reactions include psychosis and chorea (involuntary muscle movements).

And on this page http://www.rxlist.com/cipro-drug.htm# has a whole crap load of warnings listed about it.

Crazy.
