Ehh...I read that yesterday. Guess being so far behind does have its advantages at times. I must say, I've been disappointed several times by actual fanon when I finally managed to watch some shows. I'd stumble onto a fandom, google a bit, maybe even love a pairing (usually slash) & gorge on the fanfics. And then I bang into reality and...ECCCKKKKKKKK!!! sounds the loser buzzer.

Heck, some gen fics I read were even better than the actual scripts/storylines from the official writers. Especially if TPTB insist on hooking up that male lead with this female character, 'to help the plot along'. Talk about PWPs. :P

It's like, they have this stone tablet somewhere on the hills of Hollywood: "The main het leads aren't knocking boots? OH NOEESSSS!!1!"

Hypocrites.

Yeah, I guess I take it too seriously because this is my only fandom and I don't feel the need to have another fandom.
I know, though, what you're saying because I do watch other TV shows with pleasure and I thank God I'm not into their fandoms this way, so when I see a season I'm not liking I just roll my eyes and go on watching, waiting for something better. I have to say that if I bump into a character I can't really stand I consider dropping the whole show.

Yes, the trend is to hook any male and female characters together in most TV shows, usually chosing people who don't have chemistry together and leaving the fans to dream over the non-formed couples. I'm not into slash as a rule and I don't ship couples cuz I think it's boring, but still...

PS I laughed hard at your last sentence!

I get what you mean with the only fandom thing. A long time ago, a local TV station was airing SG-1, & I really loved it. Jack & Daniel together in almost every other scene was a very lovely added bonus, but the plots, characterizations & a tendency not to take themselves seriously all the time made me drop everything that particularday, just to catch it. Despite the fuzzy reception. :P

And then, a few seasons in, they started with the must-have-het-love-plot-cos-the-slashers-are-growing-too-huge-zomg nonsense. Now, Sam Carter is (was? I don't watch any more...) an intelligent woman, capable in her own right, especially in a traditionally men's world. And having to watch her make cow eyes at Jack, her superior just cos the Wizard (aka TPTB) said so...just made me cringe. And switch off. That was my first real time being so disappointed in a show that I didn't really follow any others. Until now. ^^

We should look for pod people to replace the writers on WaT. Complete with direct links to their brains, lol.

I haven't had a chance to watch hardly any of the episodes but I saw the one where Elena had to go undercover as a pole-dancer and Danny and her had to make out. It was like the worst, most juvenile kind of fan fiction: The Bad Guys made us do it! Really lazy but I guess they had to get it out of their system - kind of like farting. I really try to understand that they just have to get rid of the obvious stuff first (like Sam and Martin) but it's still annoying. I've read several articles where the rest of the cast points out how much fun the actress playing Elena is and I have no doubt that it's true but they have to see that none of that great personality shows up on the screen. Elena is bland and monotone and still manages to be completely unintelligible or engaging.

They have such great characters and they mis and under use them way too much.

I'm so pissed off and tired (it's been one season and a half that she's there, now) that I don't really care how this actress is in her real life. All I know is that I'd so want her out of my show. She drags everything down to her acting level, Danny included. He is my only TV love, so I was even enthralled by the sex scene in Candy. Don't get me wrong! It was bad, but he was hot and sexy and he was lying on a bed, head on the pillow and arms over his head. Just an eye candy, or maybe a sex candy. Nothing more.
Then there were other episodes that were better than S4 anyway, and a lot of Danny/Martin scenes. You could even watch them without too much harm to yourself. But now... I think i'm gonna boycott this episode at least until I read what the rest of the world thinks about it.

And I'm aware I have a letter to reply to... sorry for the delay!

Oh, no worries about the letter, sweetheart. I just wanted to wish you a Happy Holiday and say thank you.

I'm looking forward to the Danny/Martin scenes. TPTB have to have some idea that they're the ones people tune in to see. I really don't get why they fight it so much. But if they're going to insist they can at least ease the pain and frustration with some more Danny/Martin.
