''She wasn't my sis.. che, never mind.'' Gokudera gave an irritated sigh, but he was relived to hear from the girl again. Perhaps she had been locked up like Kouki had.. ''Believe me, you didn't miss out on anything. Are you feeling alright?''

"Ashura is really, really hungry!" But otherwise, sie was completely unharmed. It was good to hear from Gokudera!

Kouki didn't feel any different after being gone for a while either.. Really, why the fuck were the bastards locking people up?!

''Well, I see you're working on it already so that won't be a problem for much longer.'' Gokudera smiled slightly, referring to the food that was strewn all around Ashura.

The child nodded slightly, smiling back at Gokudera instinctively. "Ashura is! There's so much food here, it's really amazing!"

"Ah, how has Gokudera been? It's been a long time, right?" That was what people were saying, anyway.

''It hasn't been that long.'' Just about three weeks.. ''I've been doing just fine.'' The food shortage had been a bit troublesome, but there was no need to worry the kid unnecessary.

''So you do need to eat? I was a bit curious about that since you're a fire god and all.''

Food was a good topic. Always. Ashura smiled brightly at Gokudera, nodding a little bit.

"Doesn't everyone need to eat? Ah, but Ashura really likes to... Ryuu-chan used to make fun of Ashura for it all the time!"

''Humans do. Ryuu.. Are you talking about the tennisplayer that was here some time ago or someone from back home?''

It was hard, sometimes, to think about hir friends from home. Ashura's smile faded a little, vivid memories arising of nights spent around the campfire with Yasha and Ryuu, of the way they'd argued and complained to Yasha about each other and still loved each other at the end of the day. If sie'd known more about how normal families interacted, it would have been the easiest thing in the world to realize that he was a brother to hir.

"...Ryuu-chan is a friend from home," sie said, a little cautiously, not sure why it hurt to talk about right now.

''I see.'' Ashura looked a bit sad so he should probably shift the topic back to food; she seemed to like talking about that. ''What's your favorite food?''

"Everything!" Ashura had not yet met a food sie didn't like. "Fruit, and sweets, and bread, and rabbit, and boar, and mushrooms, and all kinds of things!" Sie paused a little, and added, "The food here is sort of strange, but Ashura likes it, too!"

''The dishes here are unfamiliar to you?'' That reminded him of the fact that he didn't really know much about the world Ashura came from. ''Do you usually buy food in a shop or at the marked back home, or do you hunt?''

Ashura thought about that. "Sometimes we bought food in markets when we were in towns, and sometimes when we visited nice people they'd have food for us, but usually we had to hunt."

Her world sounded somewhat primitive.

''How did you get around? Simply by walking, or did you use some sort of transportation?''

"We walked. One time, Lady Kendappa gave us a ride in her castle... sometimes Ashura rides on Yasha's shoulders?"

Yasha's shoulders were pretty enormous, very good for sitting on.

''A castle that moves..?'' Gokudera's quirked an eyebrow at that. ''Is that common in your world?''

"It flies. Ashura thinks it's only that one, or maybe--maybe there are two? Not many, though."
