June Writealong: Day 1

Jun 01, 2010 18:57

This is totally a spur-of-the-moment thing, but since rii_dono  was saying she needed to finish her story, and I need to finish the first half of my draft (it's a good thing my self-imposed deadline is generous, but I HAVE been sticking to it fairly well), I figured we could do a June Writealong! Anyone is welcome to join in.

Here's how it's going to work:

Hi, I'm Carrie, and I'm a writer. Wait.

Anyway, my goal is to finish the first half of my current draft by the time I leave (June 26.) That means 11 scenes, or about 16,500 words (if my estimate is correct.) I'm not concerned about word count, just finishing up those scenes. If I finish that on deadline, I plan on moving on to the outlines for my second half. It'll need a LOT of outlining.

Still remember my login and password. >>; NOOO, I didn't remember my username only because you used it in your post! Crazy woman, thinking I don't remember things.

*cough*

Anyways. I said this elsewhere but perhaps our super amazing arts would make good prizes? Character concepts, cover arts, that kinda thing. ^_^

My goal? FINISH MY STORY. By... um.
Well I don't have that much longer to go. Shouldn't be more than like 10k more words absolute maximum. So...by the end of the week is generous. I'll go with that.

LOL. Yeah, I can tell how much you used your LJ since getting one.

Super happy fun times! And I'm willing to donate art if anyone's willing to want it! That would probably be doable. I think you should set another goal for when you finish Magitech!

^^ I'm willing to donate arts too :D

Huh, maybe I will...I'm saving Death's Tear for NaNo...but I could go back to working on Sharra Fiddler or something.
Actually I need a bigger break with Sharra, since I would probably ruin it *again* if I started up this soon. Maybe I'll start on Vince :D Yeah, there we go.

I'll come up with an official goal when I finish Magitech.

Whatever floats your boat. :) I will put arts up as donated prizes on tomorrow's post.

Oooh, ooh, can I play? mathwiz1123 June 2 2010, 01:28:27 UTC
This is Tyler (in case you two couldn't guess from the math themed name...) and I'm a hobo ninja mathemagician who happens to enjoy writing.

My goal is to complete two short stories (I'm thinking in the neighborhood of 10k words each) by the end of the month.

I would offer some of my artwork as a prize, but it is considered a weapon of mass distuction in 14 states and 11 contries...

Maybe I could offer mathematical wisdom such as e^(pi*i)=-1.... oh darn it...

:D Of course you can play! That's a great goal. You don't have to offer prizes, it's sorta my responsibility, so don't worry about it. (As for e^(pi*i), well, http://xkcd.com/179/ sums up how I feel about that.)

I could explain to you why this is so (for the longest time I thought it was just a bunch of malarky as well), but it would involve calculus, which I know you are averse to.

Hey I like calculus! I wrote a whole story about a world where they use calculus as magic. (It already is magic, but, you know, more magic.)

I'll do it. Buahahaha, but I have no idea what goal to do. I'm lazy and also going to be gone for two weeks, so 20,000 words maybe? somewhere around there.
And Rii, I still haven't managed to get to derivatives. And I'm taking Stats next year, meaning I won't understand that equation too well until senior year.
There, Carrie, I did it.
