Last night I had a terrible dream that Abby fell down the stairs. I was close enough to see but far enough away from her that I couldn't stop it. She topped head over heels, but in the dream she landed straight on her head. She didn't lose consciousness but rather took on a frozen sort of stunned expression and stiffness. It was terrible, even ( Read more... )

I hate those kinds of dreams because they seem so possible. Good for you on the eating changes.

My husband would probably happily send me your way so that I'd leave him alone!

Dreams like that are awful. :(

I don't know, but if all you want to do is complain and not change your diet on your own, then I will help since I am the one who makes all the food anyway.

That's the spirit! Fried and gooped-up food is the worst for heartburn, so what you're cooking now is really going to do him a great favor.

Thank you! I sure hope it helps him. Even prior to and aside from heartburn, I have often worried for his arteries...I feel like it wouldn't be any kind of surprise if he keels over of a heart attack at a young age from all the junk he eats. I have many thoughts about that, but they might not be very friendly sounding, so I'll leave them out instead of going off on a rant about that right now :)

I hear you on that. Chris eats a very unhealthy diet too, a LOT of meat and other saturated fats, plus white rice and pasta or bread made from bleached flour, never whole-grains. Since we both make our own meals 98% of the time, I don't have much say or influence on that. He loves my soups, but even if I make us a healthy soup with legumes and vegetables, he'll slice up a pair of fatty sausages and put them into his bowl. LOL! Now that I grow our own produce I'll often make him a salad or vegetable dish to eat with his meals, so at least he's eating a lot more veggies. It's all the meat, snacking on a lot of chocolate and ice cream, and other excessive saturated fats I'm concerned about, plus he smokes like a chimney. I try not to preach at him because he wouldn't listen anyway, but now and then I can't help but say something like, "Hey, the cats and I want you around for a long, long time." But he brushes it off. I'm careful about my own nutrition, but his motto is, "Main thing is, it tastes good." Argh!

Yep, they sound similar in lots of ways, diet-wise.
