You get what you pay for, don't you?

Because I'm blessed and don't have an actual nine to five job that I go to everyday, I volunteer in the boys' elementary school library every Wednesday. The school librarian actually has two schools to split her time between, and there needs to be someone there to shelve books and sit at the circulation desk when she's not there. Usually it's ( Read more... )

volunteering, television, horrific kid story

I just giggled when your icon popped up. Like breathy-little-girl-giggle.
He's freaking adorable. Must find icon.

I still do the breathy giggle thing.

The cast videos are kind of adorable as well, if you haven't watched them yet. My favourite is just Bradley James mucking around at a train station late at night.

And that, right there, is why I despise most children. I pray that mine are better behaved in public.

You just watched Merlin now? I already thought you were a fan. Go figure. I can't get into Bradley. I'm far to superficial. The teeth and the skin? Too many flaws to overlook.

I do, however, have this icon in my collection, which seems strangely appropriate...

A) I swore that if I ever taught, EVAR, I wouldn't teach anything younger than college level, because I would kill all of my students. My mother's favorite level of teaching is junior high, and I think she's cracked in the head for it.

B) Bradley James is crush-worthy. The SyFy channel has been doing a lot of Merlin reruns, and even though I've seen all the episodes, I watch purely for him.

It's touch and go, sometimes, even for my older kids.

I MEAN. Seriously. That kid is gorgeous. He's got that regal-but-lion-heart-thing down PAT.

Blargh. I hate whiners. I'm fairly sure I was one as a child, though. Not something of which I'm proud.

My mother didn't allow whining.

It just wasn't done.

Which is why I think my sister and I are probably the least whiny women on the planet.

I remember having to deal with a high school student who was looking for Howard's End for the summer reading list.

When she saw the one copy I could find (which was in one of those three-books-in-one kind of books), she literally said, "LAWD, GEE-ZUS-SUH!" I think one of her friends even added a "Lawdamercy!" or something.

When you can turn "Jesus" into a three-syllable word because, omgflail, you have to read a book for high school, that's really kind of pushing it.

Of course, now I'm imagining the dude's ears perking up because someone used his name, and then having the "Okay, really?" face.

And then God would tell him that his face was going to freeze that way if he kept doing that.

Because God's that kind of dad.

It's times like this when I remember Dogma, where Metatron (Alan Rickman! Oooo.) mentions that God has a sense of humor, because look at the faces people make mid-coitus.

Then there's the saying that when someone predicts the end of the world, God pushes it back a day, just to be funny. :D
