I'm meant to be typing fic.

Must gripe first.

How rude is it when you're being served at a retail store, like say, TARGET, or Express, or Dillards or even the grocery store, and the cashiers or salespeople carry on a conversation amongst themselves like you don't exist?  Am I the ONLY person that this bothers?  At this point in my life I still have ( Read more... )

Firstly - *snickers over Nolan* All worried but then he didn't need to be... HEE!

Nextly - I am a Customer Service Guru. I worked CS since I was 17 - in fact, except for the two years I took off when I had Ben and now (I work at a clinic) - I was in Customer Service in retail (even when in University - where I got a History Degree... useful when you want to be a really educated Mum!) - And I admit - I have been known to talk about private stuffs in front of customers - but you're right - it makes you feel like you don't matter and that your business isn't welcome there. ALSO - I find that at our Walmart, for example, we actually have to GOAD the cashier into talking. Like one time the girl did not say A WORD and then at the end Jay just gave her a funny look and said, "HAVE A NICE DAY!" and she just stared at him... O.O yeah - WOW!

But YAY for new fun hankies!! WOOT!

Ahem. For the record, we always stop our conversations for a customer. That, or they join in, seeing as how it's a sports store and everyone there has a team and an opinion.

Also, Nolan WINS. Though your habit of collecting hankies is a bit...individual.

Oh, I hate that too! It makes you just wanna turn around and leave. Either give me some attention or I'll take my business else where, damnit!

And, your new layout is pretty!

It bugs the hell out of me when they carry on a conversation. I went into the store where I used to work the other day and had to stand there for twenty minutes while they lost the item I'd ordered, had a conversation, phoned someone to go look in the storeroom for my item, had another conversation... Right while I'm standing there. No apology at all about how long it was taking. I actually had to ask them what was taking so long. I couldn't help but think that I would never have dared to carry on like that. I mean, it's a really busy store and it wasn't like I was the only person waiting either.
