The LJ panel, where the activities are listed (on the top of the page), doesn't work on my computer any more. So I can't edit my messaged any more, and some other things as well

If it's really slow on your computer, you can turn off many options, like the avatars and even the pictures, and only have them show when you click on them.
I think there is even a Russian community on DA, there are certainly many nationalities.
