"Hello!" comes a cheery reply in response.

There's a handsome blond man looking at him curiously.

"Hi," Ed replied, uncertainly. He had half expected Hoenheim to be there again. He considered asking after him, but then, why should he? He'd be fine without the old man.

"This is gonna sound like a strange question, but where am I?" Ed asked. "Is it London?"

"I'm afraid not, although I know of London. This place is simply called The Mansion."

So he wasn't in London this time, but if this person knew what London was, Ed wasn't in Amestris anymore either. More proof that something had worked and his trade had been accepted, even though he was still alive. He felt happier.

He was a little surprised that this stranger wasn't acting surprised to see him. He had just appeared out of nowhere in someone else's house. But it was easier if he didn't have to try to explain anyway.

"OK, thanks." He wasn't sure how to begin. He didn't really have a plan for this. His stomach decided for him: He should find lodgings. He could get his bearings from there. And food.

"Hey, listen, could you tell me where I can find a hotel or an inn? I'm kind of here unexpectedly."

If Ed comes to the library a little bit later, he'll find a young man, not much taller than him, dressed in tweed and reading medical texts. He's been reading most of the day, and he'd love some company.

Continuing his exploration of the area, Ed came to the library. Always a good place to find. If this wasn't the place Hoenheim had ended up, maybe alchemy would work here. The books would help him figure it out.

There was already someone studying. He didn't look too immersed, but Ed wasn't going to bother him with introductions. He began to casually browse, attempting to figure out how the room was ordered.

Damien looked up to see a man even shorter than him enter the library, looking around for something. He closed his book with a smile.

"Hey."

Edward turned when addressed.

"Hi. Didn't bother you, did I?" he could tell he probably hadn't, as the stranger was smiling, but trying to get off on the right foot while he figured out where he was couldn't hurt.

Because the typist thinks an interaction between these two would be hilarious... Melou can be found standing out on the porch, despite the late autumn cold. Feel free to interrupt his deep (and probably emo) thoughts.

Eventually, Ed found his way to a porch. It was chilly, but the air was clean. He stepped outside. Someone was already there.

"Hey," he greeted. And because he couldn't help noticing the expression on the stranger's face he added hesitantly, "Um, is something wrong?"

"No," Melou answers automatically, instantly defensive. "Does it look like something's wrong?"

Edward frowned. No reason for him to be prickly. But he reminded himself that it was just him in a strange new place. He didn't have backup and he didn't need to make enemies.

"Didn't mean anything. You just looked kind of... serious."

If he ventures out into the garden, he might find something small and grey rummaging about under the bushes, brushing aside the leaves with it's oddly shaped front hooves.

Continuing his stroll around the place, left hand in his pocket against the cold (his gloves hadn't come through with him), Ed came to a garden. At first he thought it was deserted, but he heard a rustling and saw an animal. He thought it was an animal, anyway. There was something different about him. Ed approached to get a closer look.

The critter lifts it's head, munching on some thistle leaves. It looks like a donkey, but it's too small and shaped oddly. It swallows, then speaks in a surprisingly deep voice.

"Hello, don't mind me: looking for thistles," the critter says.

"You talk," Ed blinked. "Er, hello." He didn't know what to make of the animal.

Perhaps if Edward ventures out further outside, he might see a pink-haired girl around his age practicing swordplay in fall leaves. She's pretty good. (Also, taller than you.)

It was chilly, but Ed felt better outside. He had started to feel too closed up in the house. He kept walking until he saw a girl. He made sure she could see him approach. He could see she was armed and intent on her practice. He'd learned to never approach a swordsman from their blind spot, practicing or not.

He raised his hand (the real one) in greeting when he knew she had seen him.

"Hi," he said cheerfully. "Do people do a lot of fighting here or is this just for fun?"

Utena stops in middle of practice and sees Edward.

“Hey there. No not really... I do this for a hobby but it helps to know it.” As that attack by the wolves proved.

"If there's no fighting, why is it helpful to know how?" Ed asked.
