It's been over a week since Morgoth assaulted him, tearing away half of the phage and taking it God knows where. Muraki can still feel the effects of the attack: his mind feels as if it's been wrapped in cotton batting full of thumbtacks. He's been avoiding human company, since he still feels vaguely defiled from the attack, but playing the hermit

Guinevere will be about, quietly sowing a handkerchief and embroidering it with her own initials.

She's quiet and thoughtful, she's slept poorly of late for many reasons, some including the events of the siege, some including her convoluted love life.

She's sweet, less innocent than she seems, but always well meaning, and could listen, if prompted into a conversation. She's often worthless for advice, but has a good listening ear.

"Regardless," Guinevere says softly. "I would that I could do aught."

I just clicked, did you still want her looking after Mal?

"Your concern and your company are medicine enough: having someone to speak to helps to keep my mind off my pain," he replies, with a gentle smile.

Yep! That works! As soon as I can find a way to get Mal out of that tight situation.

"Then I'm happy to listen," Guinevere replies patiently.

That is, after all, one of the few things she can do pretty well.

"I admit, my illness has kept me confined to my rooms, and I regret that I'm behind on the news: I trust those creatures causing all that racket have been driven away," he says.

"Aye, so it seems," Guinevere says thoughtfully. "Thank the Lord."

"And so there is peace in the Mansion and its grounds?" he asks.

"Aye, now there is," Guinevere replies. "Though for how long, I know not."

"Giant insects, wolves... what next? It seems that nature or some god of nature is angered, but for what reason?" he asks, rhetorically.

"Alas," Guinevere says again, "I cannot say, for I do not know. Though I know the Merlin is about, and mayhap his counsel would assist you in your quest, my lord."

[silvereyedphage]

He refrains from raising an eyebrow when she mentions Merlin. "Ahh, I have not had the honor of making his acquaintance, but perhaps I should consult him."

"Mayhap, aye," Guinevere replies. "I'm told he lives out on the edges of the wood. Find Sebastian, and he may tell you were."

Find my lover, she doesn't say. Where has he gone again?

"Ahh, I regret I've not met him either, but I shall make up that deficit posthaste," he says.

One wonders how an incubus and an energy vampire who might be of angelic ancestry would get on...
