Mattie was just heading out to the stables to ride when she spots the strange man. She stops and stares at him for a moment, and then decides to head towards him.
"Hello," she says simply, friendly enough. "You look like you may be in need of some assistance."
Shadow stares at the little girl's hand like it might bite him (never trust appearances), then reaches for it and gives her a good shake - strong, manly. His hand is huge compared to hers.
"Mike Ainsel," he lies. She looks like she might be another one of those heroes - like Whiskey Jack and John Appleseed. "-- what are you doing backstage?"
Should Mike find his way to the kitchen, he might find a young-looking, violet-eyed Japanese fellow, puttering about, making a pot of matcha and humming to himself. There's likely an odd darkness about him, despite his cheeriness.
He looks up, smiling. "Hey there, I was just making some green tea. Care for a cup?" he asks.
Since it seems that he can't leave right away, Shadow is falling into the usual motions. He probably found a place to stay, may or may not have been shown the kitchen, but he certainly forgot to take something up to his room.
Which is why he's here, and when he spots Tsuzuki, he blinks at the friendly acquaintance. (Not necessarily a good thing, that - remember the guy in Wisconsin? yes. That guy. He was friendly too.)
"--- yeah, sure thanks," Shadow replies, though inwardly, he's a bit cautious.
Good thought, Shadow, as we're not sure just what is lurking in the depths of this cute fella's spirit, sealed away from even his knowledge. Yay, canon hiatuses...
"I'd better warn you, it's kind of strong, the way we make it in Japan," he says, hunting for a couple of tea bowls and setting them on the table. "You must be new here: well, welcome to the Mansion! I'm not the cook here, but I hang around the kitchen a lot: I'm Asato Tsuzuki."
Out on the porch, if Shadow should venture out, he might spy a fairly familiar face: a smallish black dog, licking its paws and running them behind it's ears, as if washing them (since that's what he's doing: Basenjis do this, it seems. This typist swears they learned it from cats...).
The dog pauses and looks up, it's pricked ears lifting a bit more if that's possible.
Shadow really wishes this was the dog he thinks this is. Really. But what are the odds? Wasn't Jacquel (and just about any of the other gods who were decent people) on his way out himself? What are the odds?
If Shadow goes outside, eventually he may cross paths with a tall, pale blond man who isn't human. Findarato smiles at Shadow when he sees him and gives him a quiet, friendly nod. He doesn't look familiar, which doesn't necessarily mean it's someone new but Finrod's been here a while now. "Good day."
"Of course, though I'm not sure that the help I can give you is what you want." He smiles gently, it seems like only new arrivals consider themselves 'lost.' "You've only just arrived, haven't you?"
Chaosti is alone at the moment, on his way back in from doing some training outdoors though no weapons are visible. When his path crosses Shadow's he stops and watches him intently for a minute, not really making an attempt to hide it.

"-- Japan," Shadow replies. "-- is that what it looks like backstage?"
Man, Shadow didn't think he'd walked that much.

"I'd rather say it found me - would be more accurate."
Shadow looks around to make sure he's not, you know, seen having a conversation with a dog.
"I didn't think this was what backstage looks like, to be honest, Mr. Jacquel."

"-- Good day," he replies, and his demeanor is neutral, if polite. "-- sorry, I think I'm lost. Could you give me a hand?"
He means with getting out of 'backstage' and back into the world. Or something.
