[open] and an awful lot of running to do

The Doctor is actually okay. For the most part. More or less recovered from his run in with Aramat - if still prone to be a little jumpy and sleeping very decidedly in the TARDIS door locked no matter what - and just a bit perplexed by his recent brief stint as a woman (that was interesting, to be sure, somewhat unexplainable) he is in usual form ( Read more... )

Muraki has been looking for the Doctor since that dreadful night in the basement, when he found out what his sister had been up to -- and when he nearly died from a hellish attack with her as the channel for that attack. Add to this, the phage is in season and it's making him irritable and nervy.

His friend and, perhaps, protector might find him in the library, running research on demonic possession and oppression.

"I've been treating her for physical injuries, as well as bouts of depression so severe that they have lead to instances of self-injury. She also has a bad case of hypersexuality and I have been helping her...deal with that in a controlled environment," he says. There might be a teensy smirk on that last bit.

The Doctor's mouth twitches. Barely. Like he wants to say something and is just barely holding himself back. Something, for instance, such as it doesn't appear your therapy is entirely successful. But that would lead to talking about things.

"Mm, really? But this is - unexpected, for you?"

"It's troubling: I may have to step up her treatment and resort to more severe means," he says, growing serious.

The Doctor's hands go in his pockets. He rocks back and forth, a very slight sight of anxiety, and then one hand comes back out and tugs at his ear. "How do you mean?"

Muraki raises a hand. "Doctor-patient privilege prevents me from going into detail, but I will say, I have a way of keeping her at bay," he replies.

The Doctor frowns a bit more, and hesitates, but decides a small admission is worth... "This may be a matter of somewhat personal interest," he says at last, mildly, so mildly. As it if is somewhat inconsequential.

"I know that she...vented her violent tendencies on you: she admitted it to me, though her admission did not come till after that dark force working through her had attacked me and nearly killed me," he says. "I suspect that there may come a time when she may need to be terminated to protect her and everyone around her."

...blink.

For just a moment, it is probably very apparent that he does not like that; does not like it at all. There's a touch of anger and hurt and a little bit of humiliation all flashing through his expressive eyes, and then it is gone again, his face blank as a mask.

"I hesitate to propose that as a solution to any problem," he says, finally, "Particularly seeing as here it may not be permanent."

Detachment. Pull away from the situation. It wasn't you.

The memories are still too vivid, though.

"There's one way to determine if that is at all possible, but I would use it only as a line of last resort," he says, serious, glancing away slightly.

The Doctor's eyebrows creep up, slightly. "What way is that?"

Still slightly clipped. He's twitchier than ever. Being around people who know his vulnerabilities makes the Doctor...nervous. Obscurely. Probably because it dents his 'always all right' and that's what he clings to so hard.

"If it came to that, I would take her life into my own hands," he says, and says it so calmly that it likely sounds more unsettling than if he had used a menacing tone.

The Doctor's eyes narrow, slightly, but he says nothing at once. Then, carefully, "As you were doing with me, or do you mean some other way?" There is a very small frown between his eyebrows, and if he seems calm about this...

Probably because he's holding it together very tightly.

He chuckles, darkly yet without any discernable trace of madness. "If I were to do that, it would please her too much." Growing serious, he adds, "No, if it came to that, I would make her end as quick and precise as possible."

The Doctor seems to struggle with himself. On the one hand...but on the other. The other wins out, because it has to, here, because he can't get involved, not with her. Not yet, not for a while, and there may not be a while.

"I can accept that."

"If it comes to that, it has to be done: I won't have her harming one of mine ever again, if it is in my power to prevent it," he says, still with that dead serious tone. "I am a man of my word."
