It might be the following night when he comes across a pretty girl coming down the hallway, a candle in hand and carrying a thick book under her arm. She's rather a winsome little thing, dressed like she wandered in out of a Jane Austen movie.

"That is so: My mother and Mrs. Allen have warned me of men who might seduce me with words before doing harm to my honor," she says. "The same would likely apply to the sons of the night."

And she might edge away just a bit...

"You've got more to worry about than your honor. It's your life that's in trouble if you fall into the wrong hands." He notices it but does not advance, he doesn't want to scare her too much, just trying to impart wisdom.

"Oh, you speak the truth: I merely used that as comparison," she admits. She's tempted to find some way to slip away, but he's looking right at her.

He definitely notes her discomfort, "If you feel the need to go, love, I won't stop you. You're free to leave whenever."

"You are likely still making yourself comfortable in this new place and I would not want to keep you from it," she says, curtseying to him.

He smiles and gives a small bow, simply because he can and he knows how to behave himself. "I hope to see you around sometime."

"And I hope to see you as well," she replies, curtseying again and making her exit, hoping that she sounds convincing. She's not so sure that she does, or at the least, she hopes that she meets him again when she has a companion.
