[Joint post] A long time coming

Feb 18, 2011 00:22

It's taken them a bit to come out with the news - it's made them both exceedingly happy, but it was no secret to anyone that not everyone concerned would be pleased for them.

Nonetheless, no-one is family-oriented like a Feanorian, and Pandora herself could not keep it to herself any longer. This, in her case, was made more raw by the fact that the ( Read more... )

You didn't really think that you could get away without speaking to this one, did you? And Curufin is not going to be happy. Which is...to say the least. No matter how much he has been trying lately, and wants to make amends with his son...

He does not like Pandora. For making him... say things, if nothing else. (Also, Daddy doesn't like her. That's reason enough.)

He comes downstairs and stops on the bottom step, all expression draining from his face except for the 'dangerous' one. And staring at his son and the vampire, standing in a manner that it would be difficult to mistake.

He waits. Explanation, please?

"I told you that I have not seen him yet. I will speak to him when I see him." He knows that Feanaro will not be happy. But he is not going to give this up over their disapproval.

Pandora bites back a biting reply, and simply looks at Curufin. Something uncanny - unnatural - flashes in her eyes, fueled by extreme dislike.

It's only because she loves your son so much, Curufin, that she manages to keep her temper in check.

"And when he inevitably disapproves?" Curufin says, his voice still even, level. "What will you do then? Deny him as you have denied me? Turn your back on your own grandfather? How much of your family will you willfully antagonize for her?"

He doesn't caaare, Pan. This is beyond self-preservation and touching pride.

Oh boy. He takes a deep breath. "I would regret being forced to cause another rift in our family, but I will not leave her over his disapproval, or yours. You forget how long I lived without family, and though I do not wish to lose my family a second time it would not be a new experience." And he's certain that his uncles and cousins will not abandon him.

Pandora smiles quietly, looking at Curufin intensely.

You seem to think your whole family follows you. You are outdated, like an ancient fossil who forgot his own age. Look around you, and come into the world, old elf.

But those are only the thoughts on the surface of her mind, and she isn't projecting them - however tempting it may be.

"I forget nothing," Curufin says, and his voice has dropped an octave. He sees your smile, Pandora, and it is making his blood boil, very quietly, in the dangerous, slow moving way of his true rage. "You forget that. I see. You have made your choice, then?"

"I have made my choice." He looks back at his father unblinking, chin raised in determination and defiance. It probably makes his resemblance to the rest of the family more striking.

Pandora is impassible, her face closes a little. She doesn't say a word - she's not to get involved, she keeps on reminding herself. Not to get involved.

"Very well, then," he says, "Then you are no son of mine. If I see you again, I will treat you as a traitor deserves." Still quiet. Calm, even, and meeting Cele's eyes directly. "Do I make myself clear?"

"Perfectly," Celebrimbor says. "But remember, my lord," and the bitterness may seep into his voice a little there, "that you do not rule here."

Pandora finds this absolutely distressing, but it's also not her domain, and so she is quiet, again, letting... this very sigh-inducing conversation run its course.

She does shift a little, closer to Cele, her heard feeling as if it might explode with love.

She understands that this is the true meaning of choice.

She is chosen by her lover - and that is a privilege she can only revere.

Curufin lifts his head, very slightly. "And yet," he says, very softly, deadly softly, "I still have every means necessary to make your life miserable."

And on that note, he turns. To stalk. Out.

Celebrimbor does not call him back. He doesn't stay anything, just watches Curufin walk away. If his father wants the last word, fine. But his shoulders are tense, and it's unlikely that he can hide the flash of pain from Lydia. He's not trying to hide it from her, anyway.

After Curufin is out of sight, Pandora reaches to touch his shoulder, her even features marred with worry and sadness, and love.

"--- Carus --"

Should we let them have a bit of h/c before we close up?

Cele looks after his father for a moment longer before turning to take her in his arms. "I'd hoped for that to go better."

Suuure, he could use it. and I should be getting some of my brain back now that my interview's over. @_@
